In an effort to further support America’s armed forces, Post University is expanding its military program so all active military personnel can earn a college degree at no cost to them. Dependents of active personnel also can earn their college degree at a reduced tuition rate.
The Post University Military Program offers quality accelerated online degree programs that meet the same rigorous standards as traditional on-campus programs. Active members of all branches of the U.S. armed forces and their dependents can now take courses for a fixed rate of $750 per course with books included. This represents a savings of more than $500 per course. Servicemembers use their branch of service’s tuition assistance program to fund their education. In addition to the lower tuition rate, military dependents can take advantage of federal financial aid, and other education funding sources, based on eligibility. Post University is a member of the Servicemembers Opportunity College network, which means all degree programs are eligible for VA benefits.
“Our servicemembers and their families have sacrificed greatly to defend our great nation and our way of life,” said Dr. Thomas Samph, Chancellor of Post University. “It’s only appropriate that we recognize their contributions by giving them access to a college degree that has the power to help them reach their personal and professional goals.”
The accelerated online degree program allows servicemembers to complete their college education regardless of where they’re stationed, as long as they have access to the Internet. In addition, Post University has lowered its tuition and covered the cost of books so servicemembers incur no out-of-pocket expenses. Post also will grant college credit for prior and future Military Professional Education Courses and courses taken at other colleges with an approved transcript.
“We offer a quality education that takes in account the special needs of active duty personnel,” said Lieutenant Colonel Ed Lizotte, (Ret.), and Post University’s Military Program director. “Military transcripts and other college transcripts are evaluated on a case by case basis to ensure that participants receive the maximum amount of Post University college credit. Best of all, our program offers the flexibility service men and women need to complete their degree at a time and place that’s convenient for them.”
The program offers a wide range of degrees in today’s growing fields.
Founded in 1890, Post University is a careeroriented and student-focused university located in Waterbury, Conn. It offers traditional on-campus education, as well as a robust accelerated online degree program. It is regionally accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
Military Spouse Scholarship Program
The National Military Family Association is accepting applications for its Joanne Holbrook Patton Military Spouse Scholarship Program. Scholarships of up to $1,000 are awarded to military spouses to obtain professional certification or to attend postsecondary or graduate school. Thanks to a partnership with the Fisher House Foundation and Folds of Honor Foundation, the Association is able to provide scholarships to a larger number of deserving military spouses. Applications will only be accepted online at www.nmfa.org/scholarship and must be submitted by midnight February 1, 2009. Spouses of uniformed servicemembers (active duty, National Guard and Reserve, retirees, and survivors) of any branch or rank are eligible to apply. The scholarship funds may be used to assist with tuition, fees, and school room and board. The National Military Family Association recognizes that unique challenges like frequent moves and deployments can interfere with military spouses’ ability to complete their education.
